Our Story
About Serengeti Design Studios
A family-owned portrait studio serving the Merrick community since 2008.
Rooted in Merrick. Driven by Passion. Femy Aziz is a dedicated community leader, entrepreneur, and longtime Merrick resident who founded Serengeti Design Studios on Merrick Avenue in 2008. Her passion for community service and local business has earned her numerous accolades, including Merrick Merchant of the Year (2011), Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce Small Businessperson of the Year (2012), Merrick Kiwanis Everyday Hero Award (2014), and Merrick Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year (2022). She has served on the Merrick Chamber of Commerce board since 2012, including as President, and currently serves as Vice President of the Merrick Library Board of Trustees since 2014. In 2017, she founded Union Sports Women Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit all female sports club which focuses on promoting sisterhood, unity, and charitable giving through sports, specifically volleyball, her true passion! Alongside her husband Hasnain, Femy has proudly called Merrick home since 2002, raising their two sons, Hadi, an orthopedic surgical resident at NYU Langone in the city, and Reza, a medical student at the CUNY School of Medicine. Her unwavering commitment to service, leadership, and community continues to make a lasting impact on Merrick and beyond.
A Life of Service & Achievement
From opening the studio to leading the Chamber — a look at Femy's journey through the Merrick community.
A Commitment to Community
Every year, 100% of all proceeds from portraits taken at Santa's visit for the Merrick Chamber go directly to the Kiwanis holiday food drive — a tradition Femy has proudly continued since 2014. From the library board to the Chamber of Commerce to founding her own nonprofit, Femy's dedication to Merrick goes far beyond the studio walls.
Family First
We treat every client like family. Our relaxed studio atmosphere puts even the most camera-shy subjects at ease.
Artistry & Craft
Every session is approached with a photographer's eye and an artist's touch — from lighting to retouching.
